Scott Wipperman – Interim Associate Pastor
Scott arrived from Central Texas to serve Wasatch Presbyterian Church on June 18, 2008 as the Interim Associate Pastor, filling the position held by Catherine Putnam for eight years. He will continue serving through this transition until the congregation calls an Installed Associate Pastor, some time after the new Installed Head of Staff has been selected and has settled in.
Scott is a second career pastor. Upon receiving a degree in Computer Sciences and an MBA, Scott served in executive positions in the high-tech arena. After two decades working with corporations, Scott felt a call to work with individuals. Having served as a Financial Planner for four years, Scott jokes that God spoke up suggesting that working with individuals was along the right line, but “I had something slightly different in mind” – so, off to seminary.
In combining his business skills and life experience with a theological education (Master of Divinity, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary), Scott joins with Ginger in the leadership of the church and filling the pulpit. During the search that brought him to Wasatch Presbyterian Church, Scott stated that he looks forward to both “leading and journeying with others seeking a closer relationship with God.” He sees one of humanity’s greatest challenges as “truly living into the reality that we are loved beyond our ability to comprehend.”
Scott is married to Merilee Wipperman, an Architectural Designer for a firm that constructs food-processing facilities. Their combined family includes seven grown children and eight grandchildren, and he quips, “On a good day, I can remember all their names!”
