Ginger Memmott - Wasatch's Interim Pastor
Reverend Ginger Memmott arrived in October of 2008 to serve as the Interim Head Pastor of Wasatch Presbyterian Church. Ginger completed an interim term in Sweden prior to moving to Salt Lake City. She replaced former pastor David Henry who was with Wasatch for 15 years. Ginger is known and warmly remembered by many longtime Wasatch members from her tenure as interim pastor in 1982-83; at that time she was known as Ginger Gryzwana. She will serve the church through a critical transition stage as the pastor nominating committee moves forward in their search process for a permanent pastor.
Ginger served interim pastorates at First Pres. and Westvale Pres. in Salt Lake. From 1986 to 2004 she was pastor of Frederick Presbyterian Church in Maryland. More recently she was an interim pastor in Colorado Springs and had placements by the Church of Sweden as a theologian. Ginger has pursued an array of continuing and formal education, including a graduate year at the Bossey Ecumenical Institute in Geneva (1997) and a D. Min. for San Francisco Theological Seminary (2008).
In conversations with the search committee, Ginger told us she was looking to “join with companions in celebration of life that welcomes the love and justice of God as it is embodied in the transforming presence of Jesus Christ activated in human hearts throughout the world…. With humor and prayer, we can strive together to increase our appetite for God’s love and joy even in the exigencies of community life that falls short of our embracing the fullness of God’s grace.”
Ginger is married to Guye Memmott whose performances as a guest vocalist stirred listeners in the congregation. They have three grown children.
